BELONG.

GROW.

SERVE.

Community Engagement

How we serve God is how we serve those around us — the hurt, the broken, the weeping, the neglected, the voiceless, and frankly, that defines all of us both inside and outside the church. The more we open our eyes to see each other as children of the Most High, the clearer we will be able to see the common cord that binds us together: the hope and glory of Christ.

Allow this piece of Scripture to inspire the pursuit of deep-rooted community…
“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” – Romans 15:5-7

We at Dalhousie Church, are very engaged within our community and in the particular neighbourhoods we live within. In a world of such division and hatred, we desire to be a people of kindness, love, generosity, and hope. To actively live out that calling, we have created various initiatives to reach our neighbours, communities, and our city.

Take Away Bag

Community Engagement

Blessing Bags

These are care packages that serve the needs of the homeless and working poor population in our city. The contents are donated by the members of our church and compiled into large bags to provide food, clothing, toiletries, and other important items for those in need. Monthly item-collection drives happen 3 – 4 times a year to keep our stock active.

Man Shopping for Groceries

Community Engagement

Benevolent Support

There are many people in our city that need help with even some of the most basic human needs. To do a small part, we supply gift cards to our local grocery store so our friends can purchase food for themselves and their families.

Happiness

Care Ministry

Our Church has folks of all ages and stages. Some of our elderly seniors require an extra level of care, attention, and connection. Our Care Ministry does an amazing job of walking alongside these precious individuals and giving them the support they need.

Grocery Gift Card Program

The Grocery Gift Card Program is underway and we’ve made great strides towards raising funds for the New Horizons building renovation project. We firmly believe this is a beneficial fundraiser where all members of our community can participate and contribute by simply doing something you already do – grocery shop.

Christmas Gift - Baskets

Giveaway

On the weeks leading to Christmas, we challenge our church to purchases items to fill up a gift basket full of joy (toys, treats, decor, games, etc.). Then after our Christmas Eve Service, we deliver the baskets to our neighbours in the Dalhousie Calgary Housing complex.

Facility Partnerships

If you ever come by the church throughout the week, it is a busy place. We host various groups that include: pre-school, AA, floor hockey group, Skateboard Ministry, pickleball group, choirs, boys/girls clubs, small groups, youth group, church congregations, and the list goes on. We consider these partners to be like friends and family and desire to bless them in the ways that God leads us.
